Department of Private Law


About

The Department of Private Law was established after the opening of the Faculty of Law in Misurata in the academic year 1994-1995. The department has twenty-three academic courses with 61 academic units, four of which are elective units and four are university requirements.
The faculty members of the department carry out their task diligently, and their role does not stop at teaching and supervising students' research, but rather extends to spreading legal knowledge through their intellectual production and their participation in academic forums.
What the department has achieved is due to the collective effort and continuous work in the spirit of one team, hoping to raise their faculty to the highest level in order to achieve its goals.

Mission

Preparation of cadres specialized in legal sciences who preserve justice and work to consolidate the rule of law, by providing legal knowledge with a conscious presentation based on the correct understanding and interpretation of the legal rule, and stresses the supremacy of the law and the consolidation of the value of justice.

Goals

The graduates of the Faculty of Law enjoy a high status, as most of them work in areas that would establish justice and guarantee rights. The department aims, through its program, to:
1. Preparing legal competencies that contribute to the advancement and development of the community.
2. Developing students' personal abilities in a competitive environment aimed at raising the level of educational attainment in the legal field.
3. Encouraging faculty members and students to engage in academic research and establishing the importance and feasibility of research in the legal field, in addition to studying legal problems through research studies.
4. Training students practically through exercises on practical cases to enhance their levels and link the theoretical side with practice.
5. Developing legal thought, including the ability to analyze, conclude, compare and criticize, to address social issues.
6. Encouraging faculty members to participate in conferences, seminars, and forums locally and internationally.
Give success to the postgraduate program in private law and attempt to develop it with the available resources.

Vision

Achieving excellence so the faculty becomes one of the beacons of knowledge in the legal field, both locally and internationally.

About

The vision of the department stems from the Faculty of Law which aspires to push the community towards advancement and progress, and its goals do not deviate from the general goals of the faculty, but each department has some specific objectives.

Mission

The department seeks to prepare specialized cadres, especially in the field of personal status, inheritance, wills, transactions, and felonies by providing them with knowledge in these sciences, refining their personal skills, and training them academically and practically in a manner that guarantees them competence and excellence to serve the community.

Goals

The department seeks to achieve the following objectives:
Preparing academic and legal competencies that contribute to the advancement and development of society.
Developing students' personal skills within a competitive environment aimed at raising the level of educational attainment in the legal and Sharia fields.
Reinforcing and developing Sharia studies in a way that keeps pace with scientific progress and meets the needs of society, as well as focusing on comparative studies between Sharia and law to enhance the student's analytical and practical skills, and raise their level of awareness.
Providing consultations and carrying out studies and services related to the fields of specialization for community institutions.
Encouraging, advancing, and directing specialized research, to help solve emerging jurisprudential issues.
Consolidating the values of justice brought by the Islamic Sharia, and disseminating a conscious Islamic culture, thus developing a cadre aware of the objectives of the Islamic Sharia.
Contributing to qualification and training courses, supporting the authorship movement related to the specialization, and holding conferences, seminars and workshops within or out of the faculty.
